Hobie 16 Delamination Repair

The hull resembled a underinflated basketball, both in color and texture. The entire upper deck was soft. I decided that it was going to be a large and expensive project so I decided to document it. I used West Systems epoxy and followed directions I found here on this website and it worked. The epoxy got expensive so I switched to fiberglass resin with West Systems 404 filler for strength. The fiberglass resin was $10 a quart at walmart compared to $30 a quart for epoxy.

Using a pen and ruler I drilled holes every two inches. I found this left two many holes. If it is a large repair it wouldn't hurt to leave 5" between holes

A drill bit with masking tape wrapped around it as a safety. Leave only 3/8" visible so only the top layer of the fiberglass is pierced, leaving the interior intact.
