Mast break 6' above mast step
Broke unbelievably cleanly! At a very odd spot. In less than 15 kts of wind! No sign of epoxy voids, in fact the high quality materials and superb craftsmanship visible, puzzled us even more. My best guess for the cause of the fracture is that the mast was stressed in transit from SF Bay to WA. It broke precisely where it rests on the trailer's mast cradle, and the butt of the mast is comparatively heavy due to the substantial reinforcements therein. Bouncing out there 6' beyond the support point may have induced some failure. No problems since the wrap (if you don't count the failed bridle wire or the busted mast step)!
