Mast Step Assist Installed

The mast step assist doodad came together relatively quickly. The only bits that didn't come out of the scrap box were the eyebolts and the crossbeam. Those came from Ace Hardware. The rest was all in the bins ready to be cut down.

Score one for measure twice cut once: The eyebolts really do line up with the mast step hinge pin. Once this thing is strapped down to the boat deck as shown, I should be able to hook my trapeze hardware to the eyebolts and raise the mast without risking a side-swing that would break my new mast hinge.

(I made some marine carpet sleeves for my straps to keep them from rubbing the gel coat off my deck. Those were removed for this shot so people don't ask why I tied this thing to my deck with carpet. I really am using straps.)
