The rubber band on the left is run through a block on the trapeze wire to pull the handle up when not in use.

The backup piece in place. Next is to sand the rest of the core material away and laminate new core. I decided to sand it after the backup is in place, making the area stronger and also, the inside will not be full of dust.

One of the smaller dents. I sanded the outer skin away and laminated 2 layers. The darker middle part is still a bit low.

I laminated the backup piece on the plastick visible in the backround, so the backup has curvature to match the hull. The backup is made of 4 layers of 160 gram mat, I think 2 or 3 layers would have been quite enough for hole this size.

The backup in place and under tension. The 4 layer backup was quite hard to bend to get it through the hole.

Another view looking aft, the lighter part is the deck "cutout".

The middle bulkhead, looking forward of the hole. The hole was about 5 cm/ 2 inches in diameter, so I was able to check the wall from inside with a mirror, but my camera did not fit inside all the way.

I decided to make a hole and a patch behind in the largest damage area. Here is a view from the inside, looking aft. As you see there are plastic bags inside the hull, so a access hole on the topside would have been useless.

Grind the glassfibre and relaminate? Or make a hole, laminate packing, core and new glass on top?

The biggest hit was here. I have taken out some core material, so the outer edges of inner skin are solid. Wondering if I could relaminate on the existing inner skin, or does it need to be removed and a new backing made?
