When I acquired this 79 H16, the blue gelcoat had turned opaque from oxidization. On this pic you can see where I had begun to remove the oxidization using 800 grit waterpaper and an electric sander to remove dead gelcoat.

I bought a smaller jibsail on e-bay, ordered the pigtail from Murrays, bought a Harken furling drum with swivel and converted to a roller furling jib

I very quickly figured out that the steering system is most important, can mean the difference between a pleasant day sailing or wrestling with the rudders, so I serviced my rudders adding new cams and taking out rudder slop using nylon shims from Ace Har

I replaced the original tramp with a mesh tramp from Tampa Catamarans, I quickly found out that mesh tramps cannot take the tension used on vinyl tramps. I also replaced the old carpet rail kit with a new non-slip kit

I did find that these rollers have sharp edges and if you don't load/offload your cat just right, they will leave deep scratches in the gelcoat. I plan to swith these rollers out with a 6" long piece of 12" PVC pipe cut in half to make a cradle,

I finished removing the oxidization from the hulls and used Poliglow, a clearcoat, to finish off. I opted for a clearcoat over wax as most of the lakes around the midwest are muddy and would stain the hulls even through the wax, no more stains

If you look carefully at the transome, you will see the old oxidized color, I removed a sticker and found original color, that was when I decided to refurbish hulls, they look awesome now.
