Mast-Stepped
Most of the first week was spent sorting through the hardware to find out what we had. There were two sets of standing rigging with one roller furling forestay and one fixed forestay. Most of the blocks for the running rigging were shot, unfortunately. Replacing the mainsheet was a simple Ebay order. But sorting out the foresail rigging proved to be more difficult. (More on that later.)
Once the standing rigging was sorted out and I'd picked up a bunch of pins and rings, it was time to step the mast.
With the exception of a loose diamond wire and some oxidation, the mast was in good shape. I installed the forestay one hole too low in the chainplate on the mast, so the rigging was loose. After we took the mast down I re-tensioned the diamond wires and re-set the forestay. Good to go.
