Parts just before drilling for the hinge bolt and bolts that secure the panel that the motor attaches to. A single bolt thru the channel at the part that attaches to the rear beam, allows the arm(tube)to pivot up and be wedged to allow the motor to be lifted further than the motors lift mechanism alone allows. I try to get the lower unit to a horizontal position to clear most waves. A piece o 2" x 6" is screwed to that panel to increase its thickness.
Having the aft part bolt rather than weld to the arm, allows me to set its angle on site, with the bracket attached to the beam, and the motor mounted. It's hard to get all that figured out on paper.
