I used several straps that I have and two wood rails that were the length of the deck plate and about 3/4" x 3/4". Using the rail puts pressure on the outside of the deck where it is needed and also keeps the straps out of the muck. I also used a couple of wood wedges where the deck needed a little help closing up. There was a small amount of epoxy that extruded beyond the edge of the deck plate. After letting this sit for about 3 hours on a very warm day I removed the strap and then used a chisel to remove the extruded epoxy. Then further cleaned this edge up with the abrasive nylon wheel on the drill. When finished there was no sign of the epoxy. This deck is never ever going to come off again.
