H18 Solo Mast Erection
Can't raise mast while boat is on trailer - no ramp and too many trees in the way. Trying to lift mast from tramp with boat in the water proved to be a nightmare and resulted in a broken hinge casting. Solution was to nail a winch to the boathouse and use a high-purchase Harken micro block set to suck the forestay chainplate and furler together once the mast is up. No gin pole needed due to height of winch. Trapeze rigs are tied to the front crosstube for lateral stability while raising/lowering mast (adjustable rigs helped a lot here). This is fast, easy, and 100% safe for solo (de)rigging.
