Main-Winch
The Pacific Catamaran 19 has an unusual mast for a beach cat: It has an integral winch for the main halyard. Luckily the winch handle came with the boat, but fabricating a new one shouldn't be too tricky.
As you can see the main halyard has cut into the mast at the opening to the winch. I'm planning to add some sort of sacrificial wear strip to the mast just above the opening for the winch so this doesn't get any worse.
The winch was seized when I first looked at it. Copious amounts of synthetic dry lube and a lot of cranking it back and forth with the winch handle fixed that. It moves smoothly now. But clearly the bushings will eventually need to be replaced. That's a story for another day.
