Name Plate
The manufacturer's plate from my Pacific Catamaran. Hull number 361.
You can see the state of the rivets, and some of the cracking in the gel coat. The underlying fiberglass doesn't feel soft. (I had a Hobie 14 with soft hulls, and this is nothing even remotely close.) But I get the feeling this is a heavy stress point on this hull, and the old UV-damaged gel coat just couldn't keep up.
I'll post other pictures of gel coat cracking on the deck. Bu for now this can serve to indicate the state of the top of the hull. Below the deck seam the hulls are in remarkably good shape, even if they are chalky. I tried some 3M #09006 Marine Restorer and Wax, and found it did a good job of restoring the fiberglass below the deck seam. Above? Not so much. The UV damage is pretty extreme. Right now we're leaning toward compounding below the deck seam and painting above the deck seam with Interlux.
