Epoxy-Repair
I had to replace the forward cam cleats for the jib sheeting system. This required removing what was left of the old cam cleats. Underneath I found not one, but TWO sets of holes. Apparently this boat is now going on its third set of jib sheeting hardware.
I drilled out the holes, chamfered with a Dremel and a grinding bit, washed the holes out with solvent and a q-tip, wetted them with West Systems 105/205 epoxy, and finally filled them with that same epoxy mix thickened with 406 colloidal silica, shot through a syringe.
There were about a dozen other holes in the cockpit area as well, all similarly filled. The next step is to sand them fair (these will need another application of thickened epoxy), and finally gel coat over them. THEN the new jib hardware gets to be installed.
