Remove Before Flight
Years ago when we trailered our Prindle 16, we'd tie a red bandanna to the main halyard where it came over the top of the mast. This served as the "red flag" at the back of the boat to warn other motorists that the mast extended past the end of the trailer.
On more than one occasion we forgot to untie that @#$% bandanna, raised the mast, got the boat out on the water, tried to raise the main, and... Put the boat BACK on the trailer, drove it BACK up the ramp, ...
Not this time.
I'm getting some matching red carabiners from the hardware store to go with these so we can just clip them on the masthead and unclip them when we get to the ramp. And just in case we forget it's there, we'll have a big "Remove Before Flight" staring us in the face when we go to raise the mast.
