A sturdy blk is bolted to the pole tip, that the line/cable from the winch runs thru. On this boat it hooks to a ss ring at the intersection of the bridle wires. The forestay is knocked into the pole tip. As the line is winched in, the
mast rises. This system put a lot of tension on the bridle wires, which want to pull the bows together. This boat has a fwd crossbeam to resist these forces, on a cat without one, you'll want strong bows, or hook the line to the tongue of the trailer instead. If attaching to the trailer, it's imperative to tie the boat to the trailer as well, for early in the raising process the forces involved will try to move the boat forward on the trailer, probably violently with potentially serious consequences.
