Construction plans for a Sports Catamaran
A friendly hello to everybody. We are searching construction plans and license for a sports-cat of 15 to 20 feet length, for our project with social discriminated youths. Construction method should be suitable for tortured plywood and / or grp / foam sandwich. We are thinking of Tornado, Taipan or something similar. Perhaps somebody has some unused plans and wants to donate them to our social project in northern Germany.
Please help us. Our Aim is , to work and sail together with youths of different nationalities to fight against racism and for understanding and to get them off the streets.

You will have to pay for tangibles, like wood, epoxy, aluminium extrusion, sails and the sort. Plan costs are negligible compared to this and probably the least important cost. Plan for the Blade F16 for example would fit your need, those are available from http://www.formulacatamarans.com/ and I think you can get plans for his Blade 18 as well

Those require licensing payment as well once construction is finished.

I never thought of that, but the Paper Tiger above would be a good option, especially if your using plywood with faults in it. I'm just not sure how you would go with a Taipan, Blade or Mosquito for example, trying to torture plywood with faults, it can be hard enough without faults. The Paper Tiger with the hard chines would be a lot easier.
Something worth considering.

The Tornado is definately the other way to go. It is a little more difficult to build than a hard chine boat, but plan are out there for a tortured plywood Tornado. My Tornado is tortured plywood construction.
There was still a building fee to be paid to Rodney March last time I checked. If you want the boat measured, a receipt for the building fee is one of the first checkpoints.
A.9.1 The licensed hull builder shall pay the International Class Fee, which shall be
3% of the builder's selling price (without VAT) for a standard Tornado without
sails, on every pair of hulls, or hull kit, built whether or not the boat is
subsequently measured and registered.
A.9.2 Half of the amount of the International Class Fee shall be paid on any single hull
built for replacement or other purpose.
A.9.3 The ITA shall, having received the International Class Fee, send two numbered
ISAF Building plaques and a measurement form to the licensed hull builder. The
plaques shall be permanently affixed to the hull transoms by the builder prior to
delivery to the owner.
A.9.4 An official International Class Fee receipt shall be issued to the builder by the
Association. These shall be numbered consecutively.
A.9.5 The International Class Fee receipt shall be delivered by the builder to the owner
on delivery of the hulls, or hull kit.
A quick check on Marstrom.com and it looks like a standard vanilla Tornado is EUR 23012,- 3% of that is still EUR 690 or ~ US$1084. Ouch!
wasn't there a chine version of the Kitty cat? If I recall correctly kitty's were sailing by adults as largish teenagers. These boats were originally intended to fit inside 12 foot skiff/R class skiff rules..
It was/is a very quick boat. May I say very wet as well!! I remember on a short course one eating the Australian Champion Tornado!! Each leg was too short to allow the T to do much..

Just the thing for excitement driven kids.. So the equivalent F12 would work.. The F16 may be better but as pointed out is tortured ply..
