This past week I spent my vacation at an ocean front condo on beautiful Singer Island. To my surprise upon going out on the 8th floor balcony I spotted a catamaran parked on the beach. I didn't think too much of it really until I realized that it was abandoned. I want to share with you all the photos of what happened over the course of 24 hours.

Those two pictures show the before and after. I have never seen a boat ripped apart so badly by the surf. I am amazed that the owner of this boat simply walked away, and left it sitting there. The debris and trash that washed up on shore once this boat broke apart was incredible, and had locals and tourists picking up debris for days.
I am simply stunned....I can't say more than that.

This is a better picture of the catamaran which shows the damage to the lower hull from the rock shelf as it beached.

I wouldn't have thought that the owner 'walked away'. I expect he thought that the boat was tucked up in a berth somewhere because the fenders are out.

Horrible thing to see

If only I'd known about this sooner. Salvage rights and I'd be a new boat owner!

Perhaps an 'insurance case'? ie. if you can't sell your boat, how do you get money out of it? Cut it loose, wait a couple days, and call your insurance co.
