Just wondering who's coming, maybe I missed something but I have not heard anything about the Regatta lately.

Jake,
Maybe you could list the Regatta under the

Notice of Race

in this Forum.

Ohhh... and to answer my questions, yes I'm coming.

YES! Thanks Bjorn. I've been inundated with business for the last several days.

We're on!, we've got giveaways, food, Inter20's, Hobie 16s, 18s, A-cats, F18s, a Farrier 31' tri, lots of great stuff going on. Please, if you intend to come, please register at the link Bjorn provided.

The gates to Keowee Sailing Club will be open at around 1pm Friday. Friday evening will be mostly a setup evening but we will have some announcements / discussions at around 7pm. Bring food for the grills at KSC Friday Night. Saturday, fun sailing & informal distance racing is scheduled for 11am (with coaching available). EMSA is providing hamburger's Saturday night and Spring Fever (the regatta) is providing some refreshment! We have a list of events we can do based on the interest and weather - it's your event and we'll tailor it to you. We'll plan to have time to pack and head home around 5pm on Sunday.

Tent camping is available and there is some limited RV parking available as well. Dogs are unfortunately not permitted - but children are welcome!

Any idea of what the traffic will be like around Clemson on Saturday? They have a home game; kick off at noon. Last time I was in that area it was a real zoo most of the day.

I'll be coming from the Anderson area up Hwy 76, so do I need to find an alternative?

The club is about 12 miles to the west of Clemson Stadium. If you're coming up from Anderson (west or south west), I would go up 11 instead of 76...76 will be a real mess. Take a right on 123 and then a left on 130. Once on 130, the club will be about 2.5 miles on your left. Look for boats...you can't miss it.

I had hoped to make it to this event but it conflicts with a MTB race Sat. I compete much better on the bike than the boat and currently am in 2nd place overall in a 3 race series. This final race may allow me to advance so I gotta go. Have a great time guys!

Wish I could make it but I am on-call. It would be fun taking out new folks on a cat. And we could have used direction on properly setting up a spinnaker.

It looks like most that have registered thus far have their own boats. We have three sailors that have indicated that they don't quite yet own a boat and may or may not be bringing one. I also suspect we may pick up some local club members. We have 12 new boats coming that we've never met before which is very exciting considering we haven't begun to do any outreach! I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone and having a good time this weekend.

Since I can't bring my boat, I'd be willing to offer some instruction (if people think that I'm worthy of dispensing it) to new people interested in sailing or racing catamarans.

I'm really looking forward to meeting all the new people!!

If you can still remember your racing/sailing days. I would say you're worthy. <img src=

Let it be known, that had Jake not said something I wouldn't have responded.

While I know this is a good natured jab at mounting peer pressure upon a member of the sailing community that hasn't been to every single regatta this season -- I feel the need to address the issue raised that somehow I haven't been on the water.

Nothing could be further from the truth. In addition to being on the J29 calling tactics and being boat boss every wednesday night for the past 3 months, the reason the trampoline needed to be replaced is because of OVERUSE. I would wager to say that before July, I was on the water at least once a week on the cat. This only stopped because of lack of wind, and temperature.

So just because I'm not travelling to regattas 13 hours away in the case of hatteras, or to Catfest due to the fact that my tramp was in disrepair, does not constitute the legitimacy of the charge that I have forgotten how to sail.

Thank you and continue on your way.

Seriously though, we missed you at Catfest. Everyone can understand that Hatteras is a long trip from Georgia. I'm sure there are plenty of people who would love to have you as crew for any regatta that you may miss on your boat due to the tramp issue. The new bike excuse was just a little over the top and it's safe to say you did have it coming. <img src=

Dude....sorry, I know this is gonna sting a little, but I just can't help myself! Flame back, I deserve it! <img src=

The Wouter excuse log (part II):

1. In addition to being on the J29 calling tactics and being boat boss every wednesday night for the past 3 months

2. the trampoline needed to be replaced is because of OVERUSE.

3. This only stopped because of lack of wind, and temperature.

4. I'm not travelling to regattas 13 hours away in the case of hatteras

5. due to the fact that my tramp was in disrepair

6. I have forgotten how to sail.

Hey Karl,
You forgot

I got a new bike I want to try out

, like Nurse Binks said that one is over the top.
And yep,Tad, you had it coming. The more sensitive you get the harder it comes down, you know that.

Fine.

Was going to come this weekend.

Might find better things to do than subject myself to more torment.

At some point, it really does get [censored] old. [censored] I miss TWO [censored] regattas and all of a sudden I'm just open for all kinds of [censored] from all you people. Its quite ridiculous actually.

This event is to have a good time on the water and hopefully build our sport. Please don't refuse to come over some trash talking ninnies who aren't even coming themselves.

I'd show up just for the 'giveaways'. I mean, how often do you see all those boats being given away! <img src=

How dare you call me a ninnie! You darn well know I'd be there but....

1 - The covers are on my boat, and they are a hassle to remove
2 - The spinpole is in the garage and I'd have to tie it on
3 - my index finger hurts
4 - i would have to put gas in the truck
5 - i want to play with my xbox
6 - i got a new fishing pole, i'm not going fishing but i have a new pole
7 - there is a smudge on the hull and it would have to be cleaned, see excuse 1 for the difficulties there.

All legit excuses and you have wounded me deeply by calling me a name. You can be such wanker sometimes.

I'd come but I got a new bike helmet that I have to try out.

I think I got some recruits with Trey last weekend if that counts for anything. I also introduced around 200 people to sailing since the beginning of June, so don't pick on me over the internet please.

Yeah Wanker,
This Ninnie (with a capital N, get it right)is gonna be at the other race Undecided was gonna do. Otherwise I'd be there learning Wankerdom from the Grand Ooompah Looompah of wankerness (and internet links) himself.
Hope y'all have a blast,
Tawd
p.s. Just in case Tad thinks that was directed at him, it wasn't, it was solely for Jake, who I think just got a new nickname from Ding.

Dude, please do not take this crap personal. As you remember, I built a house and took a year of crap from everyone. Even today at lunch Jake got in a good jab, but it was well appreciated <img src=

alt=

remember, if Todd is not making fun of you for something, he is mad at you <img src=

Hope to see ya this weekend, or I will have to call you a POOH! <img src=

Just realized it's in SC and not GA, I guess I assumed the location was close to Springfever and Lake Hartwell GA. Thinking that Lake Keowee was in GA as well...

Is this the Location for the Regatta?

The weather for the weekend is not calling for much wind, but who knows, we might just get lucky.

yes, that's it. We're not too far from the spring fever site - just one lake up...we're further north and closer to you. Call me if you need directions.
