[#29114]

We are 4 weeks from Daytona Beach Summer Sizzler, come join us for Florida’s only remaining ocean regatta.

Hotel and the weekend schedule information is located at the link below. The block of rooms they had set aside for us has expired but it’s still a cool place to stay so give them a call.

I'm told the block of rooms at Perry's is still being honored, if you need a room for the weekend give them a call.

Message from Steve Caron.

Yes at this point we are a go. Looks like it might be a little wet but not outrageous. For those of you on the west coast or sputh of us we are expecting 4-6 less inches of rain than you are. So come have some fun and be social. Should be better than being locked up in your house while the water level go up around you. Who knows we may have sunshine they have been telling us it was going to rain for two days now. See you on the tiki bar.

Thank you

Steve Caron

What's the surf look like today? Should I bring a long board or short board?

Bring both, why be caught unprepared? I think I'll throw the surf rod in the truck too.

I hear those are under some sort of wildlife protection - it seems that much of the species has lost it's testes and most don't have the ability to reproduce.

If nobody is going to recognize your brilliance I will. Karl gave nothing to work with and you made it happen! You really are more than a techno weenie!

Now fire up the Malibu Barbie mobile and meet us in Daytona.

Hah! I just got all my rough-in inspections signed off yesterday on my garage and am in the home stretch. Hoping to start moving stuff in 4 to 6 weeks. Next year (hopefully) I'm hitting your regattas more...it's getting boring up here.

I can't speak for the other folks that were there but I had a great time. Saturday the wind was light with a slow build and by the third race we had double trap conditions. On the fourth and last race we had an 85 degree wind shift to the right about 15 minutes after the start which put us on a reach up and down and by the second lap the RC got bored with drag race and pulled the plug.

Conditions on Sunday were starting to degard but the forecast promissed us a few hours of manageable racing. The race started a little late with a 12-15 knot and building breeze. By the last leg the breeze was at a solid 18 and the sea state was getting sporty not Hyannis sporty but pay attention sporty. This was enough to break the committee boat from its hook on the bottom (Ron Rice's 50' monohull) so we were done for the day plus the squall lines were on their way.

As you would expect with fleet 80 the social hours were fun and lively. The host hotel (Perry's) is happy to have us and they made every effort to make us feel welcome. In my opinion Jay you would have not wasted your kitchen pass to attend this one. You and Frank on the 20 would have been a force to recon with, Sunday alone would have made it worthwhile.

We were also told the Gilligan's Run fish fry will be at Perry's this year so you can litterly park the car Friday night and not move it until Sunday morning. Preregistration and info here: http://www.fleet80.com

Yeah, I'm kind of kicking myself for that, but I will take responsibility for pulling the plug and scuttling Frank's chance of putting the beat-down on all of you... But I usually don't take too many chances with tropical systems parked off my back door. momma doesn't like being stuck if things turned out ugly...

I may yet muster up for Gilligan's but not sure which of the endless N20s in the area I might be on....
