[#29075]

I've had a i20 for 13 years never had a problem releasing the main, now that I am using another main I can't get it to release in the normal way, pulling the halyard and over rotating the mast. Any ideas. Thanks

is it just re-hooking each time you try to pull the main down?

Any trouble getting the main up (like the bolt rope is snug) and hooked?

there might be a magic way to tie the knot on the halyard ring. Or the headboard might be twisted a bit...

Sail goes up great , it's like it's not going up enough to release

I have a twist shackle that goes to the halyard ring

You might have to cut the luff rope to let the sail go up higher. Check the sail against the top of the mast with it laying on the ground .

What Dave said. Sometimes the top of the luff rope bumps against the bottom of the mast hook.

Hot knife can fix it.

Check the position of the grommet at the top of the sail. If it is positioned to close to the bolt rope it is hard to unhook.

Common problem. The tops of the mains are often made just a bit different with the bolt rope closer or farther from the Grommot. I use to tie a bowlon at the top. When I got my new main I had to run the line through the ring and put a stopper knot in the back to that it pulls the ring off the hook.

Good Luck.
