I built a Jarcat 6 catamaran and was using the hobie 16 rig and mainsail. I needed to shorten mast to fit boats design and also make it easier to step. I cut 5' off the top and then made mainsail into squaretop cut above the 2nd batten from top. I sewed into the seam a chord so I could change the tension. I've been out twice and had no problems. Just thought I'd share this with the forum!
