I was looking at my original 1985 blocks on my H16 the other day thinking they should be updated over the winter... which was reinforced by a friend (thanks Jeff).

I did some searching and found a Lewmar VF Racing 60mm Vf Triple Ratchet Block with becket & cam and matching 60mm VF Racing triple for under $270 for the pair. I'm assuming these blocks are similar to the 57mm Harken Carbo blocks? I like the idea of going with the larger 60mm 6:1 blocks as I'd like to use a 10mm or even 7/16" main sheet.

Does anyone know anything about the Lewmar VF Racing blocks or see any reason why this system wouldn't work well on a H16?

I replaced my Harken with Lewmar a few years ago and love them on my Tornado. Lighter, with no issues so far.

I use lewmar r60's and 90's. they are very nice. for x-tra line dia. you can inter change the side plate's and then use a large size cam cleat. i use 5/8 reggata braid on my main. very easy on the hands. after 3 failures of ronstan blocks i have had no problems with the lewmar. very smooth

I have used the Lewmar blocks and they are very nice but the Harken ratchomatic blocks are better IMHO. They pay out much faster because the ratchet automatically switches off when the line is released.

I have used Lewmar and the only problem I had was parts. I could get parts but it always took a week or 2

I now use Harken ratchomatic carbo which is by far the best thing I have ever seen. It's almost as big of an improvement over the old harken's as harken's were over Seaway in the 80's.
