Minimum Utility Trailer size and Frame (nesting)
Hello,
I have not been able to locate either dealer or private party here in NJ with a used trailer for sale. Now on to the questions.
What is the reccommended size of utility trailer (just for frame), the wood to be discarded. I have one in my machine supply house which is the following specs 4x8
with max rating of 990 lbs. This will be for a Hobie 14.
Has anybody seen any plans for nesting or mounting configuation.
I thank you.
Mike
Your utility trailer sounds like a good start. I think most cat trailers have the cross bars (hull support) spaced at around 7', front to back. You may have to replace the tounge of the trailer to get it out at least 3' past the front of the bows. (to allow for turning) On a H16, this amounted to around 10' of tounge in front of the front cross bar. For width of the crossbars, most are around 90" or so. I think the centerlines of H16 hulls are around 87" apart. Your 14 might vary?
Good luck,

Mike,
WF Oliver has a galvanized cat trailer from my Dart 16. It a good trailer, no rust, with a big rubbermaid box for stuff. Your H14 should fit it fine. WF is in VA Beach. He can be reached at WilliamOliver@aol.com. Make him or me an offer. You might need to adjust the cross beams and add cradles or rollers.
I can be reached at wjvining@yahoo.com
Thanks
