I have recently bought a used old Nacra 5.0 in the Netherlands.
The hull number can be read below the rear beam and is hand writen as follows: NACA 2072L 586.
The original main sail is white with center red and yellow stripes and apart from figures 5.0 has no inverted U logo nor sail number.
I would like to add now a number to the sail for identification in Barcelona Spain where I live, what is the usual numbering policy? should I use the same number as the hull (I guess 2072) ?
Do the last digits of the hull code indicate that the manufacturing year is 1986?

Regards

Toni

as far as i know it should be a 1986 model....

that's about the time nacra changed from solid frp to the foam sandwich, which do you have?

as for sail numbers my 1982 nacra 5.2 doesn't have the inverted U symbol either but i have a pic of a 5.2 3089 which does, so i guess it came into use sometime after 1982....

my sail number is J65, which has nothing to do with the hull number as can be seen below but more to do with the fact that it was the 65th 5.2 to be registered? in japan

the 586 could indicate May 1986.

The inverted U is actually an N, for Nacra.

I concur, the 86 identifies it as a 1986 boat. I've just come into a 1983 boat.

Many manufacturers numbered sails in production order, but there is no reason you can't put any number that has significance for you on it.
