[#22624]

I have been trying for weeks to purchase the trapeze adjustors that are being used on the new Infusion (see attached photos) and nobody understands what I am looking for when I describe it over the phone.

These are very similar to what I had on my tornado but not in carbon.

If you can get me 4 of these parts plus the trap rings, please get in touch with me via this sites PM.

Thanks,

Paul

That's not a stock Nacra part. Those are Marstrom carbon sheaves. Try Carla Schieffer at Coconut Grove Sails and Canvas - (305) 668-5001

I believe she is the US Marstrom importer.

I have been told that NACRA are making them for the Infusion because the Carbon Marstom ones are not F18 legal.

That is one piece of the adjustable trapeze system which is a part of the

Race Package

. Call Ron Lane at Fastlane sailing at 619-222-0788. #9136 is the part number of the whole adjustable trapeze system.

Adjusts trap height while sailing. Some folks use them on the crew's traps to lengthen from the upwind setting to allow the crew to trap at the back of the bus with the 'chute up.

The double in-line sheaves allow easier adjustment through mechanical advantage - apparently some of you giants are heavy.

West Coast is okay, but I have to order decent coffee from Nawlins. And they hardly fry anything out here. <img src=

Come a little further west. You can get fried SPAM.

Yeah, wassup with that? I keep hearing about it and then it was on

How it's Made

the other night about how there's so much spam eaten in Hawaii. Is it a FAD? <img src=

It's a staple of the local's diet. The first year we were here we wanted to donate $200 worth of baby food to a food drive. The organizers said they much preferred SPAM. Even McDonald's and Burger King both serve it.

If there's a hurricane coming, the stores get depleted of toilet paper, rice and SPAM. Go figure.

JW, just come up here and I can hook you up with some good coffee. You just haven't made it to Santa Cruz yet. <img src=

That might be a deal breaker for us being out there to help Jake at the AC next year... <img src=

To get a piece of that action I'd bring my own frying gear!

Feedback from several A Cat sailors is that Ronstan piece is not up to the task and that there have been numerious failures at the sheave.

My original plan was to use this but it is said to be failing with 180+ lb sailors.

Yeah, I have had some of the same experience with ronstan stuff- but I did check the SWL of these and it was 550lbs. It seems like that would be enough, but I have had the series 20 ronstan blocks do funny things.

I didn't see an equivalent harken piece which I would trust a little more...

The Ronstan VS Harken is an interesting debate. Have at it!

Ronstan vs Harken, I'll bite Gary. I wouldn't put a single peice of Ronstan #$%$^ on any boat. Several failures. Ronstan makes me feel unsafe under anyload. My only saving grace is that I that bought that ^%$# at West Marine and they gave 100% of money back. Harken is good, I prefer Lewmar.

Hey Patrick -

Harken has built a 16mm double in-line block - it just hasn't made it into the catalog. They have some ready for sale, but you have to call the factory. I replaced the Ronstans on my boat after they failed - the new Harken blocks seem to be holding up really well.

I have had a ronstan series 20 block fail on a trap line but it didn't make me go swimming.
I don't use adjustable trap lines (only the stopper ball, no blocks). I can see how they would help, but I think that having the traps adjusted so you are well balanced upwind is good. This does leave the crew a bit high at the back downwind, but I figure that is probably not a bad thing given how crazy I can be driving with the spin <img src=

/> (especially as I get more out of practice!).
Of course, fine tuning can be done based on the conditions prior to going out.

Indeed I have! That was the most digusting Double Double I have ever had. We had to put in the freezer so that we could take it back to show them how bad it was.

Thanks for the reminder.

Avoid In N Out in Culver City at all costs.
