Has anyone traded with Whirlwind sails?
Can I get feedback on their SuperR H17 sqaure top pentax vs their square top dacron?

Thanks

Warbird, check this loft out. I've seen their sails. They do a nice product. I believe they are a bit closer to you also.

Don't know anyone that has one of their 17 square tops, but have heard nothing but good things about them. Chuck used to make sails for Hobie, and is supposed to be very good! I wouldn't hesitate to order from him if I was looking for a sail for a cat. I think a couple of the guys on the Yahoo beachcats group put Whirlwind squaretops on their 18s, and love them.

If this deal I am working on comes through, I will also be looking for this kind of Info. I really like the looks of their sail.

I am thinking about naming her

are you ready

Abandoned Ship

She is an 1990 H17 that has been well, apparently abandoned. I will know in just a bit over 2 weeks. Since she will need new sails some running rigging and a tramp, my wife thinks we could name her Bits & Pieces

Chip Buck of Whirlwind Sails has made some amazing sails that I have seen first hand. I am ordering a jib from him for the FX1. He was the sailmaker for Hobie for years and now has been doing some great work with square tops for these boats. Pentex vs Dacron. I would go with Pentex. It won't stretch out as bad but you do have to take care with storing them to get the longest life out of them. Check out www.whirlwindsails.com

THank you for that, I have decided to go ahead with his pentax fat top. I take care of my kit so what kind of life expectancy out of that?

I have a 7 year old main that is still in great shape. I do race with a new one but the old one is still used regularly. I would venture to say 10 years if someone cares for it well.
