Tacticat has a new version! The most important change is that we have now CURRENTS and TIDES. The strength a bit exaggerated (just for test) make 'interesting' starts and buoy roundings.
Othe changes are for the big boats (to force tack duels), the penalizacion system (to encourage 360s ASAP) and some tweaking of the rules engine (always room for improvement there).
Till the end of november we receive registrations for the 1st European Team League, Hobie Cat Trophy.
There are now some 16 teams representing sailing clubs that will be (tacticat-)racing during December team fashion to win a couple of boats (a couple of cats <img src=

I'm having trouble getting started with Tacticat. Where's the software?

The software is in Internet. You dont need to install anything from Tacticat. The only requirement is to have a not-too-old version of java in your computer.
To get a good version of Java just go to http://www.java.com follow the instructions to downlad and install the recommended version. (Java is usually installed in the computer when you buy it but sometimes is not a complete or modern version)
Once you have the java thing ok you just go to http://www.tacticat.com , that's the home page. Scroll down the page till you see a table with the sailing fields, we've setup some 20 different fields dedicated to fleet, match and teams racing. There is also a field just to try starts.
Enter a field pressing the desired button, they are labelled L1, L1-euro, X1, M1-aus, .... if the button has an -euro it means that this field is hosted in a european server, if it has -aus it is hosted in a Server in Brisbane (Australia) and if it has nothing it is a Dallas server. Try a field that is close where you are to begin (better response time).
