PSA Overnight Race
Great weather has settled in over the mid Atlantic for the PSA overnight race replacing 95% humidity and temps in the 90's. This is a great 35 mile steeple chase where the course looks like a bow tie in rounding several lighthouses on the northern Chesapeake bay. With a 4:30 PM start, the beach cats plan for a night sail if the winds are moderate. (A near full moon is predicted) The forcast is 5 to 10 knots... (Please.. Please let it be the 10)... Last year, the cat fleet finished before nightfall.... 5 boats are registerd..(Tim Layne on the Renyolds 33 plans on TWO regattas on Saturday, the Leukemia Cup below the Bridge and the PSA overnight in the evening.... Ah... he keeps the boat north anyway... might as well throw in a few more miles) The course may not favor the spin boats this year... If so... Dan Flanigan and his two boys Jamie and Ryan could skunk the fleet again on a Hobie 16. Best I can manage is the PR this month... with a bad neck... sigh....
I predict the cat fleet will join the monohull sailors for breakfast at PSA round about 12 midnight
