SCHRS revisions are now posted on the website

All,
It gives me great pleasure to announce that the revisions to the ISAF Small Catamaran Handicap Rating System (SCHRS) have been uploaded to the SCHRS website .
We have updated the rule set as well, this can be found here
We have also calculated a selection of ratings for the boats that we believe we had have a complete set of ratings points for, this can be found on the website soon.
If your boat is listed without a rating, we should indicate on the list the rating point we are missing. Please send that to me, I can be contacted by following this <a hreff="mailto:simon@schrs.com?subject=Information%20request%20from%20SCHRS%20Web%20Site&Body=Please%20type%20your%20Message%20here

We are also putting the final polish to a utility that will allow you to calculate the expected rating for a given set of rating points; this is yet to be uploaded to the website, but will be available soon, I will advise when this has been uploaded.
We have also collated a list of FAQ's that we think people may ask, this can be found here.
I would like to thank all the members of the SCHRS Rule Management Group for there assistance in formulating the new ruleset:
Simon Longstaff – Chairperson, U.K.
Olivier Bovyn - ISAF Rep., France
Colin Whitehead – Member, South Africa
Olly Harris - Technical, U.K.
Jason Smithwick - ISAF Rep. and Technical, U.K.
David Chivers - Measurer
Simon Forbes - ISAF Staff
Geoff Balfré - Web Site

Due to a number of related issues and the meltdown in the financial markets (meaning I had to do a shed load of extra work today) the new rating numbers will not be on the website tonight.
All I can do is offer my sincere apologies as I did say they would be there. These will be there tomorrow.

Posted on behalf of scooby_simon, who is currently unavailable due to the continued lunacy - that's the financial markets of course, not him... <img src=

I am pleased to be able to announce that the 2007 SCHRS ratings are now available on the website:-
One FAQ is missing from the site:-
Q: Why are two values given for
A-Class
, based on two specific designs?
A: The Class rules for A-Class are very open and every boat should have it's own SCHRS rating and certificate. These values, for a current design at 2006 and another common older design, are published for guidance to show the range of ratings.

And I am, in turn, able to announce that the Sailwave SCHRS rating calculator has been updated if you want to fiddle with parameters and see what happens. There is also a SCHRS 2007 rating file on the resources page.

Can you throw any light on the questions I asked on the F16 forum - see below.
Lets take one class for example: Dart 16.
You can say:
Dart 16 (or Sloop) and you are talking about a Dart 16 with 2 sails and 2 crew.
Dart 16, Cat boat, That is a Dart 16 with 1 sail and 1 crew (the definition of a cat boat is a boat with 1 sail.)
Dart 16 SPi, Dart 16 2 crew, main, jib & spi.
When people started sailing the Dart 15 singlehanded with 2 sails, it was called a Dart 15 Sprint.
There are references to F16 Cat boat and FX-one cat boat - this should be the 1 crew, 1 sail version, but it seems to be referring to the boat, singlehanded with a spinnaker <img src=

/>.
Am I completely wrong here ?
P.S. A Dart 16 Cat Boat has
no rating
- This is just a Dart 16 with 1 crew and 1 sail - there must be a number for that ! The Dart 18 Cat boat is listed (1 Crew, 1 sail)

I plan to enjoy it.
Me and a Mate are planning a few days OP with a guide, maybe even a Heliwopper if we are feeling rich.
As for ratings
Boat No. Crew WS AL WL WM VLM CJ VLJ CSPI CB VLB BEAM NUMTRAP Rating
Dart 16 2 135 4.8 4.8 11.75 7.05 2.6 4.4 0 0 0 2.3 1 1.263
Boat No. Crew WS AL WL WM VLM CJ VLJ CSPI CB VLB BEAM NUMTRAP Rating
Dart 16 Spi 2 140 4.8 4.8 11.75 7.05 2.6 4.4 12.55 0 0 2.3 1 1.233
Boat No. Crew WS AL WL WM VLM CJ VLJ CSPI CB VLB BEAM NUMTRAP Rating
Dart 16 Sprint 1 140 4.8 4.8 11.75 7.05 2.6 4.4 12.55 0 0 2.3 1 1.127
Not sure why there is no rating for the
D16 cat boat
; i'll Make enquires

It's descriptions I am talking about.
Dart 18 Cat Boat means a Dart 18 with 1 sail and one crew.
Hobie FX-1 Cat Boat seems to mean a FX-1 with 1 Crew with a Main - and a Spinnaker.
So what does
Cat Boat
mean.
Ahhh; OK, we've not looked at the
descriptions
of the boats, once the clickabe list is up this will hopefully become obvious what each configuration is.

I will;
I have plans to go OP with a guide if I can.
Spend some time flying (and landing the right way up with a bit of luck)
And going fast too. Got the GPS with me and hope to get some nice speeds on clear pistes.

There are some minor tweaks planned but nothing major and will not effect most classes. Just got to find time to get it specced up and approved at ISAF. Work is getting in the way of sailing and so things are taking a bit of a back seat at present.
