Well, on the first day, first race we had close to 12 and I set a .7 mile weather leg. Wind dropped off and the last boat finished in over an hour.
So, moved into .55, for 35 minute first place finishes, with race over in 45 minutes.
Last day was 2.5 mph to 4.5 mph and reduced the .4 for 35 minutes first to finish
Competition is awesome, I can tell you. Seems like every regatta you go to for Waves someone new to the winners circle takes control.

I'm thinking $$ isn't the deal breaker for you, I could be wrong though and I dare you to prove me wrong.
actually, it is; momma handles the checkbook.
the time off thing is starting to open up a bit more than in prior years... I actually got 3 or 4 kitchen passes this year, but only got to use two --- nobody needed crew for the other ones <img src="<>/frown.gif" alt="frown" title="frown" height="15" width="15" />
have sleeping bag, will travel. Sure, the car is nowhere near as neat as that Nunsuch that Karl's dad had, but it works in a pinch. I even got a tent now!
For sure so far for Waves:
Aug 1-4 -- Wave North Coast Championships, in combination with the I-LYA/Bay Week Regatta, Put-in-Bay Yacht Club, Put-in-Bay, Ohio -- awesome regatta, awesome parties, awesome island (second largest monument in the world of its kind, wineries, hundreds of bars, most with entertainment, and instead of horses ala Macanac, everyone drives antique cars, and we have an antique car parade every Sunday, with between 40 and 100 cars in it) Great place.
And since Pensacola Beach did such a great job with the NAs this year they will again host the Wave NAs at Pensacola Beach on one of the later weekends in October 2013.
We usually have a fleet at Punta Gorda, but I am tied up teaching Laser and Opti youths that weekend.

Please don't let it conflict with Hiram's Haul (in case there are any
Wave-ers
who sail big boats too)

You don't have to worry about cross over for that one.
Thing is it was a fair race.., not a pop shot.
A couple of us from PIB came the year before last to Rochester and had a great time. My understanding is since Chris is no longer Pres the IWCA is no longer welcome to Hobie events.
We are putting together our traveler series, for a National Series Championship. We did not have many this past year.
Rick
??? The big Canuck came to Madcatter this year and won with his IWCA boat.
We need to sort out how to get more races in the northeast, or I'm going back to the 16 and racing with Hunter (6 now and racing Optis soon). Was the only Wave at Barnegat, not doing that again.
Mike
When's the next big regatta for Waves?
Hobie Mid-Winters East will be at Ocean Springs Yacht Club, Mississippi
April 19 20 21.
I'm sure Kirk at Key Sailing can provide charters.
