Sail Sandy Regatta 2014

Hi Guys,
The Sail Sandy regatta will be held on October 18 & 19 at Sandringham Yacht Club. For many years, it has traditionally been a monohull regatta. I have contacted the club, and this year they have decided they will be inviting cats too. (The amendment is to be released in the next few days).
We need at least 6 boats to enter to make this happen.
Here is the event website: http:/
Note: the ammendment has not yet been posted.
Who is interested? We already have 3 - Matt, Daniel & I.
Regards,
Tash

Hey its not a big enough state to have ends, surely you just all get your heads together anytime <img src="<>/grin.gif" alt="grin" title="grin" height="15" width="15" />
But seriously, I might make it to Sandy if we have room to rig up and it's not too expensive <img src="<>/sick.gif" alt="sick" title="sick" height="15" width="15" /> You guy's sure you want to sail with spinnaker? Allways seems to be a windy weekend and the seastate is a challenge in that area on its own <img src="<>/crazy.gif" alt="crazy" title="crazy" height="15" width="15" />

there's an end <img src="<>/shocked.gif" alt="shocked" title="shocked" height="15" width="15" />
Devonport.....
Smithton......
Tullah........
Tarraleah.....
Georgetown....
St Marys......
Orford........
Port Arthur...
Hobart........
well that's the plan at this stage

The amendment has been posted. Lets get some entries in!

Cats will be based at the beach beside Hampton and sandy yacht clubs (this is a much bigger launching area), and storage overnight will be decided closer to the time. Most likely we will store the boats in the maintainance yard which is secure.
Sandy has change rooms and showers in two different areas, plenty of space.
Cost is $55 if you enter before the cut off date - Oct, otherwise its the standard $70. You don't have to pay yet though, just get your name down on the entry list!

Sail Sandy will be a great opportunity to show that the mosquito is alive and kicking, we want to promote the class at this regatta as it will have sailors that will be moving out of junior classes and looking at boats that offer a challenge and provide excitement.. what better place to showcase mosquitos as a stepping stone to the olympic nacra17
So if at all possible we want YOU…

well we have to be fair, if non spin boats turn up we will sail without kite as we need numbers 6 or more, unless we have 6 non spin and 6 spin no problem. I will decide on the day what i will be sailing. Depends on how many boats and wind factor. i perfer to sail with kite.

Good little article on Sail world..

Hi Tash,
Good article; did you have something to do with writing that?
My only criticism is that it may be a little deceptive showing photos of mixed multihulls from other events - if one didn't know better one might think they were at Sail Sandy.
I had a look at the history of the Club - interesting to see that they started out with cats.

Hi Brett,
Make sure you get to the Nationals at the end of the year !!! Its the first time I will have gone as well and am really looking forward to sailing with a whole lot of people I haven't sailed with before. Plus the family is looking forward to the holiday in a great part of the world !
In October in Melbourne the water will not be too bad for sailing......if we can do Hazelwood in winter we can do Melbourne in October.......whats some cold weather between friends 🙂

Sail Sandy is this weekend coming. Who else is thinking of going? Looks like nice weather.
The entry list is interesting. 185 entries but of these I only count fifty or so
grown-up
s boats. That's a huge number of junior sailors.
What's launching and boat storage like there with 185 boats or more? Is there that much room?
