Regarding the A Class, ISAF staff and the A Class are working together to set up and implement the plaque system into their class.

Anyone have any info?

Even better.. what are the taxes for?

Not a new tax Mark - just an old tax that ISAF is trying to collect now that they are a bit short of money. The plaque fee is what an international class has to pay ISAF (and IYRU before them) for each boat when it is built for the privilege of international status with ISAF. For SMOD boats it's easy for ISAF to collect - just hit the factory each time a boat is built. For boats built by multiple manufacturers or even home built it's a nightmare to collect - classes such as F18's and A's. I understand they've been trying to get it out of the A's for about 40 years. Not much incentive for a cat class to arrange payment these days is there? BTW it's .4% of the boat cost.

Cheers

So how do you calculate .4% off the price on a homebuild??

Therein lies one of the myriad of problems for ISAF in collecting this money. I don't much care about ISAF's problems though. I have indirectly given them a lot of money over the years through class association membership and what have they done for me as a multihuller? No olympic representation - aided and abetted by certain countries' national authorities of course - but we won't go there!!!
