The Northeast District has added the Newport Regatta to the schedule - July 12-13th.

We need 12 boats to get our own start and we will be scored as a one design fleet.

I've sailed this regatta in the past and the race management, location, and social aspects of the regatta are all excellent.

Hi Bill

Is this event in addition to Bristol in August? Or is Bristol still up in the air?

Is there an open class fall back if we don't make class?

I dont believe there is an open class, right now its only F18's for multi's. Traditionally the Newport regatta has been a one design regatta.

Last year the F18's only had 6 boats and got a start. same for the 505's.

Theres an issue with the F18s as it conflicts with the Lipton Cup this year.
Most if not all the F18s want to go to Newport but the open boats in Nensa do not want this if Newport does not often an open fleet.
I'm discussing with Sail Newport the possibility of an open fleet.
I'll know better mid this week.
There could be an open fleet but it would require a commitment of 8 or more boats and I don't believe this is possible.
It'd be great to have F18s and A cats side by side as they are the two classes most likely to attract convert sailors.

Todd,
When you say

side by side

I'm assuming you mean on the lawn. The Aclass fleet wont show up if we dont have our own start, so please dont offer that to Sail Newport.

Bill
