I'm curious to know if anyone has ever gone two up? If so is there anything i need to look out for?
I have a couple of times. Slows the boat a great deal. It went well in high winds. 15-20, but I only did it to give a couple of people interested in A-cats a ride so that they could see what they were about. I would worry about too much weight, placement on the platform and that is about it.
ACAT has only one trapeze wire, you're gonna be mighty intimate hanging from the trapeze with someone sitting on top of you.
Can you say LAP DANCE??? We may need a new thread for this one . . ., it's bound to get out of control.

My first cat was a Dolphin. One man, 16 foot, cat rigged Cunningham design which was the predecessor of the Quickcat and considered a training boat for the A Cats.
I took it out in a bit of breeze 2 up on trap and ended up tearing out the rear beam. One up boats are not designed for the sort of loads associated with 2 up trapeze sailing
and would recomend not pushing it to these limits.
I've tried double trapezing on my Marstrom A-class. The boat handled it nicely but the mast was too soft at the top so the sail went flat before we where powered up properly. We could fly a hull but not as early as we would with a better mast. We where around 130 kg together, I wouldn't do this with a heavier crew. Some A-class boats can handle this load but some will probably break.
They converted an Marstrom A-class (actually an M18 but that boat is identical to the A-class except for an increased beam) to an F18ht by adding 40 kg of lead to the mainbeam, switching to a higher mast, changing to M20 centerboards and adding double trapeze. The boat performed quite well but was a bit low on the water.

I limit passengers on my A3 to 120 lbs and under and most of the boats should not be sailed with more than about 275 lbs total crew weight. The issue is not really the platform but the mast and standing rigging if you load the boat up. Girlfriends, wives, and kids are great fun to sail with.
