This years Alter Cup is being contested a little differently than previous years. In the past, in order to compete for the Alter Cup Trophy you needed to qualify at certain regattas or be invited to compete. The even was sailed on a group of manufacturer supplied boats of a certain design.
This years even is open entry and is using owner supplied F16 Class boats, F16's are also available for charter.
I'll be there all week helping with the event and reporting here with pictures and updates.
Day one is in the books. Day started off very cool, 40's and very cloudy, but temps rose and the sky cleared up later.
Sara Newberry, Olympic hopeful, fresh off her win at the F16 North Americans was unstoppable with 5 bullets in 5 races. Had good speed all over the course but looked particularly impressive on the downwind legs.
I was working the start/finish line mark boat so stayed busy moving marks around to accommodate wind shifts for the next start, but did manage to take a few pictures to give a feel of the event.

Coolest thing so far is seeing Robbie Daniel give onsite coaching and taking a look at his mobile coaching trailer that includes three catamarans and a nice power boat pulled by a F350 truck.
