A heads up to the Aussie F16 organisation
A heads up to the Aussie F16 organisation
I just read the VYC handicap number document for 2007 and found this statement highlined by a yellow bar together with the F16 rating :
See for yourself in the following document :
http:/
In short we as F16 sailors are required to turn in more race data to solidify our Australian VYC rating. Or else ...
Interestingly enough even the Taipan 4.9 sloop version is subjected to the same threat and they have a massive pool of data from the past. I guess the VYC committee wants the performance validated yearly and are right on top of that. What a difference to the US Yardstick system.
Nevertheless, the F16 as a class needs to respond. I assume the Governing Council also takes note of this development by reading this post.

Hi Wouter,
I am totaly aware of this, has been on the site since last years figures where posted. Have made sure that the VYC has recieved results for a number of regattas in which F16's participated.
Must say I find it difficult to understand having so few as reliable, if the Yardstick committee was active I am sure they could find more data. But from what I have seen very little work has been done on the VYC yardsticks in the last few years. When I last spoke to the one person stuck with the job, he was looking at his roll just as the keeper, waiting for some one new to take it over.
I must say that I feel there are a number of questionable yardsticks for classes and could not disagree with many being classed as unreliable. But it is all we have to work with in OZ.
