The class logo; it is time to put it too rest.
In the aftermath of my earlier post I received three reactions. One dealed with the general feel for the logo and in the past weeks we've altered some smaller details to make it look more smooth. I think we were succesful at that. The general shape has remained the same and so did the reasoning behind it.
The second reactio dealed with the similarity of our logo to that of the surfboard builder Fanatic. This resemblems was found not to exist, probably because fanatic changed their logo a time ago.
The Third reaction dealed with making the F16 logo more like the F18 logo. This is a sort of a contradiction in my opinion as we want to be an distinct class related to the F18 but more than just a spin-off. I think that that is the case as we changed quite a bit of the rules. Also I don't think that making our logo more similar improves distinguishing our baots fro theirs while on the water. An very important consideration. For these reasons I'm sorry to say that I've decided not to change the F16 logo to be more like the F18 logo
I received a few more reactions but they enclose only "lets get on with it" and "nice logo" reactions.
Somebody asked for a poll on the subject and the class will comply with that. So here goes.
It is important to understand that a no vote is not simply lets go back to the drawing board and try again later. "No" means YOU have to come up with a better alternative within 2 weeks and get it through the poll proces or this logo will become the official logo by default.

Vote has been closed and the current logo is final
Now 17 days have past, which is well past the 2 week deadline set for alternatives to be send in.
I have received no alternatives in my mailboxes and therefor there is no alternative to vote upon. There will therefor be no second vote.
The approval vote upon the logo proposed posted on the 7 april 2003 saw 19 votes in favour and 2 against. This is an approval rating of 90 %.
With these numbers the F16 logo as proposed and visible in the attachment is accepted and finalized as the Official Formula 16 for High Performance catamarans Class logo.
I will adjust F16 rule 2.8.1 "Formula 16 Class emblem" accordingly.
The use of this logo is restricted along the following lines :
-1- It may only be displayed on components or platforms which are fully compliant with the current F16 rules and fully compliant parts of the foundation boats.
-2- It may be used as the main logo in the mainsail only when the whole platform is fully compliant with current F16 rules.
-3- It is not compulsory to use this logo as the main logo in the mainsail; it is allowed to sail with ones own logo or one-design logo.
-4- When the boat has been measured and approved accordingly to F16 rules than it may display the F16 logo near the clew of the mainsail to indentify it's compliance and ownership of a valid measurement certificate. The logo placed there shall not be heigher or wider than 0,25 mtr.
-5- When found to be in breach of F16 rules or foundation status than the F16 authority may demand the logo to be removed. When this can not be done immediately then the logo must be covered up and not be visible at any time till the part is determined to be compliant again or is removed permanently.
Over the next couple of weeks I will work out the definition of the logo in measurements and present a properly worked out protocol for its usage.
