Dear forum readers and class members,

The Formula 16 class needs YOUR help.

Are we in trouble ?

No.

Are we growing to big to handle ?

Yes.

Right now the Formula 16 class has several projects in the running and is about to start up more. For now we have leaned on the current officials to take care of the work (some more than others) but we're placing to high demands on them now.

The class needs to sign up a few more volunteers.

Volunteers for what you may ask.

Well the current projects are :

-1- Maintaining the Formula 16 webpage
-2- Making new content for the F16 webpage

-3- Building the class in new places
-4- Supporting designers and builders in creating and launching new fully optimized Formula 16 boats

-5- Supporting our members in a advisory role regarding upgrades and how to get the max from your F16 platform
-6- Organising the 2005 Formula 16 Global Challenge event (our inaugural world championship)
-7- Organising local nationals to decide who will get the charter offer alotted to each national organisation.

-8- A new project on which I don't want to comment in public just yet. For this project I need testers, a (java, php and C) programmer and perferably a guy or girl handy with basic electronics and PC's

Up till now the Formula 16 class is doing what she is doing for free. It is all the result of volunteers offering their services and building the class in that way.

We wold very much like to keep it that way and for that we need more people offering their time and effort.

We can at this time use any skill that you may offer. With the growth of this time we may need to occasionally dependent on your own intitiative with regard to the project you're working on.

Particulary (but not only) in demand at this time are :

- Organisational skills. We have a few events to organise

- Creative skills; Photo pages, content for our webpage, reports of events, write-ups on tuning, ..., . You name it !

- Internet / website skills (very much needed), webmaster ?

With regard to our members with PC, electronics and programming skills I have a very interesting project which when done right we will use in our own Formula 16 class continiously but also offer to the Taipan world championships and the Tornado Olympic races. Both to advance the picture of catamaran racing in the world of sailing. In this project we also can use a person with very good "arranging skills". Don't expect to being asked to do high tech stuff, for that we make use of 3rd parties. We need people who understand this stuff and who are willing to organise and test this stuff and give educated feedback when needed.

The class intents to minimize demands layed on volunteers and will try to make everything a team effort when necessary.

Please helps us (Phill, Michael, Kirt, Steve, John and Bob) to keep this organisation innovative and free for our members.

Your help will be much appreciated.

I've just added two more event reports to our website ; The Icebreaker event held in the USA and the Western Cap championships in South Africa held over easter weekend

Go and take a look at :

http://www.geocities.com/f16hpclass/F16HP_public_history.html

Enjoy the read.

As you can see three events are still missing.

The Australian Taipan 4.9 championships which Jeniffer attended

The North American Formula 16 nationals of late november 2002

And the distance race done in the summer 2002 by Mike ?

Pages like these are Dynamite when it comes down to potential F16 sailors and it is also a very good read to all F16 sailors already involved.

It takes me too much time to gether all the info and a few pics on the named events. Is there anybody who is willing to take this task from me and help us all out. So that I can concentrate on arranging a boatshow with a stand that is shared by all F16 Builders and also land that 3rd fully compliant Formula 16 builder ?

It is only a small task but it would help us all so much.

Who will step up to the plate, Hey you all speak and write better English than I do !

Mail to Formula16Class@hotmail.com
