I thought Bundy and Carolijn were both sponsored by Hobie Cat, but this sure looks different.

It's great to see top sailors on the F16!

Unlike the AC, these are AUSSIE designed boats, AUSSIE sponsored boats, being sailed by AUSSIES in AUSSIE water.....

I'm guessing what we're seeing here is the start of AHPC's drive to get their boat selected for the 2012 Olympics by showing they're suitable for both 2 men and 2 women.

2012?
A little bit late for that I'm afraid. There won't be any multihull sailing in that one.

It would be great to see it back in 2016 though it's going to take a lot of work from us all to get back in. The trouble is, each camp will have its own idea as to what boat or boats they'd like to get back in and that's where it can allgo wrong.

Maybe 2016..
Must admit nice vids.. I guess the F18 manufacturers are circling the honey pot.. The class downside isnt in the manufacturers long term planning.

Still nice marketing

As I keep saying, the only way in would be to have a male and female, crewed boat, oh so politically correct and would tick all the PC worlds boxes.

Of course I'm blowing my own horn here (our own horn) but the F16 framework would be a good choice for an olympic slot.

They can use the same boat in any role they want. As a mixed class, as a 2-up crew men and 2-up women class and even as a singlehanded class either mixed or seperated in boys and gals.

There will never be a need to choice any other platform ever again as this platform can indeed do all while maintaining the performance that is normally associated with the F18's or A-cats.

Personally, I feel such a development would be bad for the F16 class itself but from the perspective of the olympics it could well be the best choice available. Especially, since it doesn't display preference of one big boat builder over another !

Not to mention the fact that the F16 specs are truly modern (180 kg simply ISN'T). It is the lightest internationally established 2-up class in the world at this time. And the only internationally established 1-up class with a spinnaker; while also being challenging enough to sail well to make it a sport.

The fact that F16 class allows a carbon mast will sort out the issue of inequality in rigs as well. Just as was done in the Tornado class.

I dare say that a choice for F16 or indeed one of the individual F16's (like the Viper) wouldn't be a bad choice at all. No matter what type of crew was placed on there.

I think we can all be proud on the class that we all build together over the last 8 years !

Promotion By these two sailors is worth more than the rubbish banter we get here.

The big cat brands will take notice of these two.

We now can sit back and watch what happens.

But you are still coming back here for more, aren't you ? <img src="<>/grin.gif" alt="grin" title="grin" height="15" width="15" />

I'm aften reminded of a rule of thumb that is used in publishing.

Rather a bad review then no review at all !

The former still sells more books then the latter.

By the way when can we vote in a new GC ? I want to show my appreciation for still not having received the 2007 Global Challenge notes ! Thank god that the GC is only in the business of class building or they would have made for incredibally bad publishers.

In line with most classes - the minutes of class meetings are available to members of the Class Association only.

Since when are we like most classes ?

The F16 class has been founded on the principle of doing things differently. On doing them better through inclusiveness, transparancy, open rules that only limit those things that are truly important and maintain direct contact between the class (officials) and the outside world (including non-aligned enthousiasts).

We are not simply an A-class with spinnakers nor a lightweight F18 class. We sure as hell are not a Hobie class where everything is boxed in tightly, suffocating and controlled by a few whigs far away and seldomly seen.

I dare say that the current GC has done a 180 on these key factors of the F16 class. Not what I expected when I formed the GC by inviting several F16 sailors of different brands and backgrounds.

I also dare say the GC has become unresponsive to the F16 class as a whole (which is a whole lot bigger then just the

members

).

The F16 class was NEVER formed to be only available to their members (even though I don't believe the 2007 minutes were ever produced anyway).

Now, the main assignment that the current GC was charged with when I handed over power to them was to implement a balancing of powers and a structure to renew official positions. What we got is an incestious relationship between the chairman and the

installed

chief measurer (father and son) who are both faaaaar to intimate with the A-cat class and have no end date to their tenure. There is as yet no sign of any structure to

vote the bums out

and that is one reason I'm not a class member at this time. I refuse to legitimize the current GC, the F16 constitution or any counter F16 class rules principle like the AGM.

As with respect to your person. I fail to see how dissing me at every opportunity is a policy worth of a GC member. Alot of things can be said about my charming personality, but I never was as small minded as you. Maybe you better show some results before dissing me ? Afterall, you are only in the GC because I founded it together with Phill and Kirt and thought you would be valuable there. I now realize the errors of my ways.

Indeed, I'm anxious to install a different person to every single position for the only GC member I respected

has left the building

(mr. Brander). I think he singlehandedly did more for the class even in his GC role alone then the rest of the GC combined.

To many valuable people have been pissed off by the GC actions or way of doing things. This is not goof for the future.

So please tell me; when are we going to act like the F16 class again ?

Take back in the initiative ? Live up to our goals as formulated during the foundation of the class ?

When can we see the chief measurer and/or chairman on a F16 again (assuming the first ever set foot on one).

Summarizing, when can we vote in a new GC that is more responsive to the class and its future ?

Without much regard,

Wouter

And now get back to the Sailor Chicks.

I say; lets take a lesson from what they did.

We need to do more and better promo !

Get out there and interact more with the larger public.

Maybe make a youtube channel ourselves instead of reinventing the F16 forum at some other site.

Get active, be seen, grow the class !

Can everyone give everyone some credit here?

The class is were it is thanks to the input of a lot of people. As the class grows things change and have to get more professional as in the first days. This means change of way of communication (membership forum) and more things to do behind the scenes (a lot of effort is done without maybe direct visible results).

Personally I think our chairman and others are doing a great job to promote the class.
Last year's Falcon launch, now the new Raptor from Europe, the professional approach of AHPC, the UK guys with the TT series, ...
Most important ofcourse is to show up at events! Move your butts and come to Carnac, Texel, Como, local regattas, ... and communicate about it via this forum or via the PR team. Give us articles/pictures to post to the website.

End of the discussion for me.

Huh ?

My C.V. already says M.Sc. (ir) in the field of Mechanical, Maritime and Materials engineering; what more study do you want me to do ? I am in fact employed at this time and the last time I checked I did live in the same reality as you.

Besides, what has this all got to with the F16 class anyway ? Afterall, GC member John A. is actually unemployed himself and you don't even have a grade that is remotely comparable to my M.Sc. I never held this against either of you.

With respect to talking behind somebodies back. I think you will clearly remember one recent WVZ club meeting where I told you to your face and in front of ohhh 50 club members why you were failing as the club race officer. I dare you to tell me that I was wrong; considering the recent developments at the WVZ.

Now I'm really not looking to do a character assassination on you; you don't deserve that. In fact, I do highly regard you in the way of boat building and R&D of foils etc. You truly have a pair of golden hands and I do often refer people to your shop when they are looking for quality stuff. That is not it, the problem is that a chairmanship/official is not one of your strong points as is also apparent from the fact that you have now been replaced as the WVZ race officer. That didn't come about for no reason.

Therefore I would appreciate it when you don't try to do a character assassination move on me. In fact, I've been your predessor in both the F16 chairmanship AND the WVZ race officer role and things didn't get messed up in either of my tenures. In fact, I was quite successful in either situation; as I'm sure you will confirm yourself. I figure that gives me some justification to speak my mind.

I will however start a new thread on this topic as this thread is not the place to continue this discussion.

But before I do that, I'm first going to shoot some pool with a lovely lady. So have nice evening and come back tomorrow to check out my additional post.

Well my best friend, i am not sure if it wise to do but anyway, i can tell you that i resigned the RO job because i did not have the time anymore to combine this with my other work and not because i was replaced, but probably you heard thru your backdoors canals a lot of nice stories and i can remember me another situation from the people when you made your comments in that meeting but i probably was sleeping when you made your point and did see another reaction from the people on your comments.
You did a job as RO also but with a bit more volunteers helping you then i had in 2008 , makes live a lot easier.

What has this to do with F16 class, if you have a problem with me or Piet then you contact me or Piet instead of writing this kind of * over us over here, this is taking the piss of people in public but you seems to need it.

(quote)Afterall, GC member John A. is actually unemployed himself and you don't even have a grade that is remotely comparable to my M.Sc(quote)

What has this to do with F16 class. ??????????

Well i can open a book about you talking about me and Piet behind my and Piet his back and what i know it was not that (nicely said) nice.

I am not taking a piss on you but after all the * you wrote and i have read over here , over and over again and i had to count a lot of times to more then 100 not to responed but when you are going to attack in public me or Piet ( he never read this crap overhere btw even when i told him to do, he find it waste of time ) on what we do wrong in your eyes then you will get a response . We (not only Piet and me but also the others ) spend a lot of time on a volunteer basis into the F16 class and not with the idea to get a piss from somebody who things he can do everything better then everybody else.

I leave it by this ,i do want to waste any energy on this kind of BS anymore and even this response is waste of energy

well its all part of natural selection..

You see Tony take a large herd of animals say zebra.. The herd can only move as fast as the slowest animal.. So its these animals the slowest and weakest that the hunters target and kill. Thus allowing the herd to move faster and thus the herd evolves to a faster herd..
Same with nerve cells.. its the slowest and
weakest nerve cells the alcohol targets and kills first..
All natural selection. Which is why Tony your smarter when your drunk!

Isn't there a way set my settings so that posts from certain users won't show up? This thread had promise since it was about hot chicks sailing great boats really well. Then the turd muncher came along and spoiled it. Why does anyone even respond to the punk. Bummer. Ed

Ironically this meeting was held at your sailing club which is apparently not far from your house, but you chose to not to go & now you sit back & demand minutes to a meeting you could have easily attended.

What a hypocrit.

I think you owe Hans & John an apology.
