Spin Top Block

Hello,
I has a lovely sail yesterday, with nice wind and great sun in Aust, but when i got back a guy who was sailing near me said that my luff look awfully long for the settings so on checking we found that the length of the luff was wrong or the top block was wrong.
SO after measuring today i noted that on my Taipan 4.9m the top block for the spin halyard was positioned 1500 mm from the top of the mast. After reading the class rules for the F16 it stated Thanks that it could not be any higher that 1 m from the top top of themast ( and i am assuming i have a std height mast).
Am i right in assuming that the person who put on my top block has got it wrong by 500mm and i should reset higher by 500mm.
I also my spin luff which was around 7750mm.
7500 mm from the top of the mainbeam. So it dependent on how tall your maststep is. As such you can't measure it from the top of the mast.
But for a 7750 mm long luff you want the gate at this F16 height or indeed you'll be sailing with a spi luff that is far to loose.
Just lay the boat on its side and measure the spi gate height that way from the top of the mainbeam.
