As usual I was surfing the catamaran scene for new developments. I came across the report of the Conch Cup, aug 23 2003.

There I saw a "colour drive" jib in the pictures :

The crew pulls off a good start but later I understood why when I saw who was skippering the Boat.

The results are on http://www.miamiyachtclub.net/myc/cc2003results.htm

Here you can see how Rick White and Jason finished 4 out 0f 14 in the no-spi class. Actually only 5 out of 14 had beaten Rick and Jason on elapsed time; the difference in handicaps moved Rick and Jason up just two places. up as

Wouter it was me, Mike Crawford. I sailed solo, but was sloop riggged. Not my best race, but it was blowing over 20 knots most of the race. I felt a 2-3 minute "gust" well over 30! Scary. I was furled a few times, but most often was slooped. Very fast, but having to depower as much as possible just to survive. Another crew member and we would have been on top (my opinion). My rating went down to about a 67.5 with just one person and sloop rigged. We sailed well over 30 miles (my estimation) in under 3 hours. The 2nd place Nacra 6.0 finished in about 2.5 hours (over 15 mph average).

Mike Taipan 213
