2002 White or Wheat Regatta Results
Hey Folks -
Great regatta last weekend - Glen and Diane Marsh continue to support local sailing by having a bunch of us over to their house in Navarre Beach for a race. A big thanks to Bill Losquadro of Subway Sandwiches, Steve and Juana Rudski of Juana's Pagodas, and the great folks at Sabre Sails for sponsoring such a fun event.
We had 18 boats turn out this year; two ARC 22s, four Hobie 20s, two Nacra 6.0s, one 19MX, one 18-2, three I-17Rs, one Hobie 17 Sport, two Hobie 16s, one A-Class, and a Mystere 4.3 - a diverse and amicable crowd!
We got three races in on Saturday, and a distance race on Sunday. A front came through on Friday, giving us some strong NW winds (12-17 knots) to deal with during the buoy racing on Saturday - a few teams went swimming as gusts indiscriminately knocked over the biggest (ARC 22) and the smallest (M 4.3) of the fleet.
Sunday saw a return to the more normal Southern sea breeze, but there were still some healthy puffs out there for the trap-hungry distance racers.
No injuries, damage to one sail, full bellies and empty coolers as the punch line. See you next year!
