2012 Key Largo Steeplchase
Gilbert's worked out great last year, they were very good about it once they figured out what the deal was. They never do know when we arrive (i've been the first to arrive the last few years) it'd be really nice to not have to deal with that again!
As Tawd said, sooner would be better, even within the next week would be awesome!
P.S. This is my first post from this user name since I can't get my password for my old one.

Same story at Caribbean Club the last 2 Steeplechases that I did. They had no idea we were coming. I plan on getting down there early and really would prefer not to spend half a day trying to explain and sort out that there is a bunch of racers coming.

Just don't use the water hose to rinse your boat and be sure to patronize the tikibar else Grumpy McGriddlepants will come swear at you.
Just a hunch, but the desk staff and security guards are only aware of what they are told. If you are working with management, and they don't communicate with their people, this should be the expected result.
Now, if you're speaking with the person who will be at the desk, and they just forget, that's an entirely different problem...
Maybe you can make up a flyer promoting your event, and have them post it at the front desk. That would not only promote the event, it might get the staff asking questions before you arrive. If nothing else, arriving sailors could point to it and say,
See, this is why I'm here!

A flyer is an Excellent idea.
Rick, Not casting blame, and you had told me at the time that they were informed. It's just that as a competitor ( not the organizer) when you take the time to show up early to rig and sail, it sucks to have to waste all that time sorting things out BEFORE you can even get your boat to the area.Maybe you need to do the flyer thing or be a little more pushy about it, with Gilbert's or wherever. They really should be ecstatic about the business , not problematic about it.
These aren't normal businesses. I'm astonished that some of them continue to survive in that area. I don't really care as long as we can get to the water and the beer is cold. Good food and a clean room are a bonus.

Gilbert's is a normal business, Carib. Club not so much.
Carib now has a fence around the beach with no way to get a boat to the beach efficiently.., these people are nuts.
Mary has called Gilberts , who now has a new manager that has not returned phone calls since yesterday.
Every year we have to start from scratch. Should never have sold the Motel. Sorry. <img src="<>/frown.gif" alt="frown" title="frown" height="15" width="15" />
