Hey Folks -

It would be silly to pretend there isn't interest in this sort of thing, and if I didn't post something, someone would accuse me of keeping secrets.

Due to some production delays, the Infusion will not be sailed at Alter Cup next month. The fleet was notified yesterday that they will be competing on new Nacra 20s instead. Nobody dropped out, confirming for me the belief that this fleet is focused on the competition and not the boat.

What affect would this have on light weight teams? can they switch out to bigger crews or are minimum class crew weights not recognized?

I'd assume that it'd have to be a pretty drastic change in boats (maybe to Flying Scots? )for any qualifiers to cancel.

Tom

The class weight for the F18 is 330 lbs and the class weight for the N20 is 325 lbs. The N20 can carry more weight and not be hurt as much as the F18.

Zooks..I assumed the F18 was more like 285, my mistake.

Are min weights enforced at the AC?

Tom,

The F18 class weight of 330 is for the big sails and the Alter cup boats were to come with the big sails. You can sail the F18 with less weight with the small sails. See NAF18 website for rules.

The way I look at the change is the Nacra 20 is just a bigger version of my Nacra F17 with someone to tell jokes with!!!!
