Coconut Grove Sails racing is slated for January 11 – 16, 2009, Islander Resort, Islamorada, Florida, US-1 mm82.5. Preceding the Tradewinds in Florida will come new, or in one case a modified race for specified catamarans. Starting on January 11th, a new race, The “Islander Triangle” will offer A-Class and open classes of 18’ to 20’ catamarans with or without spinnakers (At least two Classes). The triangle race will be followed by The A-Class Coconut Grove Sails

Invitational

and a new format A-Class Coconut Grove Sails “Intergalactic”. In preparation for the races NOR’s are in development and coordination between sponsors and race management. As soon as NOR’s are ready they will be published in online Cat Sailor magazine on the NOR page and distributed to other locations of interest. Already, negotiations have obtained rates and boat storage plans at the Islander Resort, Islamorada, Florida. Competitors are urged to contact The Islander Resort at 305 664 2031 for room reservations. Ask for the Coconut Grove racing rate. ($159, plus taxes.) Contact Islander Watersports, at 305 522 4944 for storage details. Pre-registering will be encouraged and fee payment may be delayed until race day. Watch for the NOR's to get the registration form.
The Islander Triangle sponsored by Islander Watersports is a fun day race and will include a 3 hour plus distance triangle race for all 18 – 20 foot catamarans, with or without spinnakers (At least two Classes), and a shorter course for A Cats, not wishing to go the full 3 plus hours.
A-Cat racing, January 12th -16th, will be two series of races, on a windward leeward course, providing two turns around the course, each race. Race management will set up at least 3 races each of four days. The first two days, January 12th and 13th, will be the Coconut Grove Sails Invitational on a standard windward - leeward course using a gate for the first down wind leg. Wednesday, January 14th, will be a day of rest, relaxation and repair (RRR). January 14th and 15th will introduce a format used in Norway this summer, locally to be named the “Intergalactic”, utilizing two fixed windward marks,15 degrees apart. Sailors will need to observe signals on the RC boat for determining the proper course for the first windward mark, and the pin boat at the downwind gate for the second windward rounding. Two Classes for this race will be determined by finishes of the Invitational. The Class flag will be at 10:55 EDT for the Triangle and on the first day of A-Class races. <img src=

Easy there short boat I'm sure it's just a typo. Besides we would only get to participate in the Sunday race. I'd be more inclined to save my sticks and extend my stay at Plantation Key.
