The company I have working on Search Engine Optimization for this site has come up with some sort of good Utube stuff, and would like your comments or suggestions. Some obvious problems:
1. Servicing Key Largo at the end (More like Nationally, NA, and lots of the world, wouldn't you say)
2. Call 305-451-3287 (egads, I hope not everyone calls.., its only me here answering the phone.., I would never get anything else done)
3. Pix of monohulls (I had sent them about 25 great photos they could have used, but didn't)
Here is the link to the Catsailor UTube Site:

Here is the landing page I wanted for our store that does have some pretty good graphics, albeit they featured some wierd products.

Thanks for any input.., trying to the site and store back to the top again.

what are you trying to accomplish with the Youtube thing? Promote your store, promote local racing, what? I didn't quite figure out what the ad was for.

On the landing page, I see your book for sale. It is a wonderful resource, but the title looks a bit dated.

Perhaps a quick edit and re-release as a e-book might generate more sales?

I know nothing about nothing, so take these comments for the <$0.02 they're worth

How about,

Servicing the World of Catamaran Racing

?

Oh, and I wouldn't put

Call us Today

all over the place, with your phone number, if you don't want them to call you! How about just a like to the store web site?

On the book, Catamaran Racing for the 90's, how about an updated version like;

Catamaran Racing for the next Millenium

to include a lot more spinnaker cats, curved boards, foiling, wing sails, etc.

I was thinking about that e-book thing. Can't you incorporate video clips into an e-book?

And a few guest authors on various specialties (like the curved boards, wing sails, etc).

The basics remain the same - tacking/gybing, displacement vs. planing vs. foiling, apparent wind, tactics, etc. that are in the present book.

Throw in a little multi-media and that thing would probably sell like wildfire..

In other words.., write another book. I should have done that several years ago. At this point in my life that is not a likely event.

Rick,

My hot tip is to sort out your web store and not worry too much about everything else (youtube, blogs etc.). I think you're website team is leading you a bit astray, yes you need to increase your web footprint across a broad spectrum to capture more market share, but a good way to do that is link to other sites like The Beachcats and SA.

I'll say I'm on your site daily but don't use your store that often. For example, I ordered a new trapeze harness for the crew this week, normally I go for an Aquata Worrell which you supposedly carry but I could not find it on your website. Actually the only harnesses on your site with photos and a description are the Murrays and Gill. Now had I absolutely needed a Worrell (i.e gearing up for GT300, which we aren't), I would have given you a call, followed by 2 other dealers since they are such a pain to get. As it stands, not knowing your selection through a quick 5 minute site browse, I went to another retailer and selected a MM harness.

I'd say re-edit, as most of that stuff is timeless, but it would be a bit of work...

Rick, just pay someone else to rework the book, it deserves it! If publishers are too much of a hassle then self publish and give it away as an e-book for free or cheap.

How about instead of them calling you you put

Subscribe to our monthly newsletter

And make it clear this is packed with relevant bargains and insider tips etc etc"
The newsletter would give you lots of valuable e-mail addresses and keep the lines open between you and your audience. It could appeal to people who don't have the time or the inclination to visit the forums.
