Changing back to NA

I got my boat as an express with the jib tracks moved almost to the back of the tramp with the associated cheese grater wire in the middle of the tramp. I have since removed the wire and just move the cars to the back and but the blocks directly on the track. Works well enough for the most part (as we were always cranking them all the way back and out so as to not backwind the main). well, I bought a used NA jib for when I have a lighter crew and figured I didn't need the large exp jib if I have a spin.
I used the NA jib yesterday in 15kn and it seemed like we were faster than with the large jib (probably not backwinding the main as with the exp jib). But, I obviously have the wrong sheeting angle with the cars that far back and out.
I know people have oversewn areas on the front of their tramps on 6.0s and attached the blocks to these, but has anyone done anything else to get rid of the wire?
Used the spin for the first time too... 18-20kn, sweet. Got downwind so quick didn't contemplate the time it would take to get back upwind

Jake - very helpful...
On the picture underneath the trampoline, it seems like you tie a knot between every grommet...is there a reason for that? Wouldn't you want to distribute the load over all the grommets?
I don't know - what you say makes sense to me. I believe that Rick Bliss' boat had the lines do that but they were terminated on an eyestrap screwed into the hull under the trampoline - but I could be wrong. Those were two boats in the Tybee500 from '04 - we were sailing an I20 but I took the pictures with the intent to modify my 6.0NA at home.
