Chicago Match Racing World Cup on SA
Team USOne, skippered by Taylor Canfield, from the Match Race Center in Chicago, defeated Swinton and team, from Australia by winning the final three races in the Finals.
Not only was it a great
Rules workshop,
but the coverage was awesome. The race management team, under Pete Reggio, was surely on point, and the red/green CoC marks were cool.
The affair was quite a contrast to the flamboyant LV series on San Francisco Bay.
I wonder if Matt Bounds was on the water, in Chicago, this past weekend. That would have been awesome!
I was not in Chicago this past weekend, although I did catch bits and pieces on the web. One of the members of my club is on Taylor Canfield's team (Mike Rehe). I work a lot with his mom (Loretta) and his uncle (Ron Sherry - multiple DN iceboat world champ).
I just got back from Racine late last Monday night, which was the culmination of almost a month of race management / judging - 24 of 29 days (July 6 - August 4) were spent on the water or travelling to events. I'm burned out.
