II also posted this on the old forum because I'm sure many of you only check one or the other.

Tomorrow, we are purchasing a used H21 SC at a consignment lot. The tramp has turned reddish (like rust color) due to water collecting in the middle of the tramp. What is the best way to clean this and get it white again? Are there any chemicals to avoid for this material?

Any suggestions for preventing this in the future. We will be storing it outside in the summer and inside in the winter (MN). We are hoping to avoid buying an expersive cover if possible.

Thanks, Doug

From Murrays catalog... http://www.murrays.com/archive/42.pdf

3M vinyl cleaner/ restorer might do the trick.

I would think that no matter what, covering is the best defense against the elements. What about a nicely sized tarp and some bungie cords to hold it in place? Cheap solution.

I have used softscrub with bleach on the tramp and non skid with good results.

I made covers for my boats out of sunbrella which I bought on ebay which holds up great and cost around 150.00 for all the materials. I first made a cover out of a silver tarp but it dry rotted in about a year and left marks on the hulls.

Doug,

Congratulations on your purchase. I stopped by Hi Tempo on my way home last night from the lake to buy a pop out of their machine, and admired your boat after closing time. It looks like it's in great shape.

I would say that the tramp on that boat could use quite a bit of tightening. Maybe some day you could even go with a mesh tramp. The cleaning suggestions here all seem like good ones. Or better yet, have Hi Tempo do it for you! [Linked Image]

Looks like you've got plenty of room for lots of your favorite drink on board that boat. I was thinking it would make a great distance racer with all that storage.

Sail fast,

Tim Johnson

I have to deal with these stupid damn berries that fall on my new white vinyl tramp where I store my boat. They disintegrate into a dark purple staining dye if they get wet. Normal soap and water doesn't get the stain out of either the deck or the tramp, but theres this stuff called "Roll Off" that I got at Boater's World that really works wonders. Its super powerful, so much so that it started taking off my pinstripe along my hulls, so you may want to dilute it a bit. It gets the stains out of both the tramp and the deck no problem. You may want to check it out.
