Anyone know if the H17 comptip is compatible with say the TheMightyHobie18 compy?

Boat blew over in a storm yesterday, comptip snapped off. Trying to procure a used one, but the guy thinks he only has TheMightyHobie18 comptips.

The Hobie catalog has them with different catalog numbers (where the rudders and rudder castings for example are listed with the same catalog numbers for both the 17 and 18). Also all the individual parts that make up the mast have different m=numbers on the 17 and 18 such as the luff track.
Also the mast on the 18 is 28'1" and the 17 is shown as 27'7". but the length may be the only difference.
I know this didn't help much but good luck anyway.

Sorry to hear your bad news. You might want to try Jeff Lynn at lynnsailboats.com. He picked up a lot of stock when the Houston sail boat center went under. I bought a comp tip from him for a very keen price. Last time I looked he still had a few (you might want to have the length of the comp tip to quote to him - the stock is a bit jumbled.)

Chris.

Hey Maugan,

I saw your boat Wend. on the beach..I was checking on mine, the P19 and P16 next to yours. Did any others down there blow over? I hope it did not land on mine.

ALso, I do know that the H17 and TheMightyHobie18 mast extrusion are the same...info I got from Mark Miller. I would measure the length of yours, and have the guy with the other one measure his, and see if they are the same. If the deminsion is the same, it should work.

Hey Psailor:

thankfully, it blew away from all the other boats and the only damage is the compost. The line just snapped from the ree-bar anchor. There was a H16 down there that looked like it got blown sideways but later righted itself crooked on the beach.
