Do you bother to set your view preferences?

I am just wondering whether people on the forum bother to set preferences in their

My Home.

For instance, I have mine set so that I can see 30 parent posts per page and also 30 posts per page under each parent post when viewed in flat mode. The defaults are 10 and 15, respectively, which I think is way too low for a forum this active.

I think I would go crazy if I had to deal with so many pages.

When I was suggesting people put their general sailing location in their profile, I started wondering whether people don't bother making the forum easier to read by altering their other options, too.

Also, I sometimes see people viewing things in threaded mode, and it seems like that would be very confusing, since most people view and post in flat mode and often don't reply specifically -- just to the last person who posted, even if that is not the person they were really responding to.

I use threaded mode because I like to see how the discussion is structured. Yes occasionally people reply to the

wrong

post, but it's relatively rare and usually obvious that they've done so.

I do the

quick

reply on the latest post even if I really are replying to an earlier message all the time <img src=

/> Threaded mode takes too long to read..

I have absolutely gone through the preferences settings and customized the forum for easy reading. As many threads on the same page as possible etc.
